They promised us a celebrity filled “excess all areas” party and that’s exactly what Northern Ireland is going to get next month. The organizers of the FATE Awards ‘09 in association with Carling have today announced some of the celebrity names, which will be jetting into Belfast on the 3rdApril to attend Ulster’s biggest red carpet event.
Fresh from her appearance on “Comic Relief Does The Apprentice”, acid tongued comedienne Ruby Wax will be back once more to oversee the proceedings and can’t wait to get back to Belfast; “I had a blast at the awards last year, the audience were fantastic – a real riot, so I jumped at the chance to come back and do it all again”.
A host of stars from the world of stage, screen, sport, music and fashion will walk down the now famous red carpet at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall to celebrate the achievements of the province’s bar, restaurant and club scene.
Glamour girls Patsy Kensit, Sophie Anderton, Jenny Frost, Gail Porter, Chief WAG Nancy Dell’Olio, “Loose Woman” Denise Welch and former Miss World Rosanna Davison will present awards alongside our very own Gemma Garrett, Hollyoaks star Gerard McCarthy, singer/songwriter Duke Special, racing supremo Eddie Irvine, artist Terry Bradley and veteran actors Jimmy Nesbitt and Ciaran McMenamin.
Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh will be making her first public appearance since the recent death of their baby boy Archie Jay Lomas who was born 18 weeks prematurely. Kym is currently dating Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas. The couple have been dating since last summer following the break down of Kim’s marriage to Eastenders actor Jack Ryder.
The Saturdays will be playing at the awards.
Also making the trip to Belfast will be Olympic swimmer and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Mark Foster, celebrity paparazzo Darryn Lyons, Big Brother 9’s Stuart Pilkington and winner of ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’, King of the Jungle Christopher Biggins.
Hairdresser to the stars Nicky Clarke is also excited about his trip to Belfast alongside girlfriend Kelly Hoppen. Interior designer Kelly has recently completed kitting out Madonna’s pad with her exclusive interior designs and is also Stepmother to actress Sienna Miller and best friend to Victoria Beckham.
Hosts of BBC’s What Not to Wear; Mica Paris and Lisa Butcher will no doubt be looking glam as they take to the stage while Christine Bleakley will dash from her live appearance on The One Show to catch the last flight from London to hear if she has scooped the coveted Best Media Personality award battling it out against Eoghan Quigg, Colin Murray, Sonya Mac and Pete Snodden.
The awards will finish with an exclusive set from hot new girl band The Saturday’s who will perform a selection of their hits including their Top 10 Comic Relief single, ‘I Just Can’t Get Enough’, before guests move on to the after-show party with a DJ set by Jeremy Healy, who has been voted No.1 DJ by The Face and Mixmag and mixes live sets for the catwalk shows of Christian Dior and John Galliano at Paris Fashion Week.
Fate Magazine publisher Michael Bell said, “The Fate Awards ‘09 is set to be the best yet with so many celebs set to fly in to celebrate the best of the province’s entertainment industry. The theme of the awards this year is “excess all areas” and the massive spectacular event will show that Northern Ireland is definitely the place to party”.
