Shankey salons in coveted award finals

March 2009: All three Jason Shankey Male Grooming salons reach final of coveted industry award!

Hairdressers use their knowledge of fashion and hair trends to inspire clients on a daily basis. Now it’s time for three teams from Jason Shankey Male Grooming in to take their creative vision to the catwalk to participate in the competition of a lifetime.

All three Jason Shankey salons have won a place at the Regional Finals of the L‘Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy 2009. Each salon team will join thirty-nine other teams to compete in the L‘Oréal Professionnel Men’s Image Award, the world’s longest running most stylish hair competition.

To arrive at this stage, the three Shankey teams saw off stiff competition from over 1200 salons with their stunning photographic entry.

This is the third time that Jason Shankey Male Grooming has entered the prestigious competition and they are determined to take their talents all the way to the Grand Finals in London.

Their work will be judged by some of the most successful names in British hairdressing before they find out who has scooped the title at a glittering award ceremony at Earls Court 2 on Monday 1st June.

Hairdressing talent alone is not enough to win this incredible award. The hair, make-up, model and clothes styling must connect with razor-sharp precision to create an image that’s worthy of gracing the pages of a top fashion magazine. Globally renowned hairdresser Trevor Sorbie MBE was one of the judges that selected the Regional Finalists for this year’s event. Here he explains what made the winning looks stand out;

“I’m looking for an image that jumps out and makes me stop in my tracks. A successful photographic entry will show consideration towards every element – cut, colour, make-up, clothes styling and most importantly, the model. When they all come together you see real professionalism and winning potential.”

The overall winners of the L‘Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy will pick up a once-in-a-lifetime prize package which includes a photo shoot with British style bible Vogue in addition to countless opportunities that will firmly position them as Britain’s top colourists.

“The L‘Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy is a fantastic vehicle to raise profile of every salon that competes,” explains hairdressing guru Charles Worthington. “To get to this stage, it shows that the salon is forward-thinking, fashion savvy and dedicated to the highest standard of hairdressing.

Congratulations to everyone who is successful in getting this far in the 2009 competition and good luck with the rest of your journey.”
